A walk around St Elisabeth Cathedral
The symbol of Košice is not only an architectural masterpiece but also an important site of Hungarian history.
St Elisabeth Cathedral is the largest church in Slovakia and one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in the region. Anyone visiting Košice is almost sure to stop in front of it.
Rákóczi's resting place
Prince Francis II Rákóczi rests in the cathedral's crypt; his remains were brought home in 1906. For many Hungarian visitors, the church is therefore also a place of pilgrimage.
The surrounding streets are worth exploring too: every corner of the old town tells of the city's rich past.
